Friends of the Environment

www.friendsoftheenvironment.orgFriends of the Environment’s (FRIENDS) Abaco Conservation, Research & Education (ACRE) Center will provide environmental education for Bahamian students, support research conducted in The Bahamas, and connect the two to benefit conservation efforts locally, nationally and internationally. As ACRE will also be housing scientists, students will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing research projects and explore science as a potential career.

FRIENDS is working to provide high school students from New Providence with classroom activities at ACRE followed by field trips which will include trips to Saw Mill Sink Blue Hole, snorkeling in Fowl Cay National Park, birding in The Abaco National Park and exploring mangrove creeks at the Camp Abaco Wetland Restoration site.

FRIENDS’ ACRE trips will give students not only an overview of the importance of the country’s natural resources, but real solutions on how we can preserve these resources and how they can make a difference for the future of their nation.

Save The Bays believes education provides the sustainable solution for preserving and protecting the marine environment.
